Comparative negligence and Connecticut law

A person who is injured in a traffic accident in Connecticut may share some of the blame for what happened. Many states, including Connecticut, recognize that many accidents involve at least partial liability on the part of both involved drivers. Each state has its own laws about how partial fault for accidents is handled when injuries have occurred.

Man dies in Connecticut crash

A 31-year-old Connecticut man was killed in an accident on June 18 after his 1999 Honda Civic was hit by a 2006 Chrysler 300c around 5 a.m. His car was sheared in half in the crash. The 62-year-old driver of the other vehicle continued up the street where his car hit a utility pole and rolled over. According to reports, debris spread as far as 600 feet. The accident occurred in Bridgeport.

Carmakers are using black boxes to investigate crashes

When a multi-car accident takes place in Connecticut, it can sometimes be difficult for investigators to determine who was at fault. Some drivers might lie about what happened in a crash to avoid criminal charges or civil liability while others may not know what went wrong. Now, modern vehicle technology could take some of the guesswork out of car accident investigations.

The increased dangers of teen driving in the summer

Connecticut residents may not be surprised to learn that teenage drivers are involved in more car accidents during the summer while they are out of school. The period from around Memorial Day until August when school is back in session is particularly dangerous. There are often more than 1,000 deaths from teen crashes during this stretch of summer, which AAA calls the "100 deadliest days."
