After a car wreck that results in death, the family of the victim may be entitled to multiple forms of compensation. For instance, it may be possible to be compensated for medical expenses incurred, loss of consortium and funeral expenses. It may also be possible to win compensation for the lost future earnings of a victim who died by wrongful death. Families of such victims may want to consult with an attorney to determine the best way to resolve the case.
Depending on the circumstances surrounding the case, it may be possible to settle outside of court. This may be best for a grieving family as it may resolve the case quicker and provide a sense of closure. However, an attorney may also be able to represent the victim’s family in court. In some cases, a settlement may be reached before or during a formal trial.
