Man Dead In Serious Car Accident In Connecticut

Tragically, a 29-year-old man died following a serious car crash in Hartford early in the morning on Christmas Day, according to local sources. The man, whose identity has apparently been verified by Connecticut police, was killed around 1:35 a.m. Police are still in the process of investigating the tragic car accident.

According to the accident report which is still incomplete as of this writing, the crash took place in a Hartford intersection. The location was reported as Pope Park  Highway and Hamilton Street. Police responded to the accident and discovered a male driver trapped in his heavily damaged vehicle. The man was extricated from his car and rushed to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A second vehicle also suffered heavy damage, though the driver suffered only minor injuries. Two parked cars were also damaged, but neither one of those vehicles was occupied at the time of the accident. Police are still trying to determine which of the drivers was at fault for the crash. So far no criminal charges have been filed in connection with this incident.

If police determine the surviving driver was responsible for the car accident, he could find himself charged with one or more crimes under Connecticut law. Separately, even if no criminal charges are filed by police, the deceased man’s family could pursue a wrongful death suit in civil court against the man. If enough evidence of his culpability on the part of the surviving driver exists, a judgment for financial damages may be awarded with regard to the man’s tragic death.
