A person who is injured in an accident caused by a drunk, distracted or otherwise negligent driver may be able to recover compensation for the losses that they have sustained. In many cases, the losses could include property damage, the costs of medical care and treatment, lost wages and non-economic damages such as pain and suffering. Injured victims may want to have the assistance of a personal injury attorney in so doing. In the event that the amount offered by the at-fault driver’s insurance company is insufficient, the attorney may deem it advisable to file a personal injury lawsuit against the negligent motorist.
