2 people face drug charges following traffic stop

In Connecticut, a 23-year-old man and 26-year-old woman are facing drug-related charges following a motor vehicle stop on September 1. News sources indicate that the incident took place in Plainfield in the vicinity of Gallup Road and Norwich Road during the evening hours. The charged individuals have now been released on bond. Authorities say that they are scheduled to appear before a Danielson Superior Court judge on Sept. 28.

Both individuals will answer to charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotics. The man will also answer to charges of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and failure to grant the right of way at an intersection.

A Plainfield police officer was conducting traffic enforcement when the incident occurred. Reports indicate that prior to being taken into custody, the man drove his 2001 Hyundai Accent into the path of the officer's vehicle. After taking action to avoid a collision, the officer conducted a traffic stop and asked permission to search the man's vehicle, which was denied. A K-9 unit working outside the car subsequently indicated the presence of narcotics in the stopped vehicle.

At this stage of the investigation, the female occupant confessed to concealing contraband under her clothing. She was allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia and 12 bags of heroin. The investigation also uncovered 75 baggies of heroin and additional drug paraphernalia under the driver's seat.

Connecticut residents who find themselves facing drug charges following a similar traffic incident may want to seek counsel from a criminal defense attorney who is practiced in drug crime law. The attorney could help clients navigate their arraignments and trials or work to assist first-time offenders in obtaining admission to court pre-trial programs, which could lead to a dismissal of the charges.
