Both drivers killed in head-on crash

On April 27, a head-on collision in Connecticut resulted in the deaths of both drivers. The fatal car accident happened in Waterbury when the two cars collided at a curve along Thomaston Avenue near the border of Thomaston. The Waterbury deputy police chief said that one of the vehicles was traveling northbound while the other vehicle was traveling southbound.

Trucking regulations again postponed

Connecticut truckers may not be surprised to learn about the postponement of two important regulations by the Department of Transportation. One seeks to mandate speed limiters on heavy trucks. The other, known as the Commercial Driver's License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, consists of a record of all the truckers who did not pass an alcohol or drug test. Both rules have been repeatedly delayed.

FMCSA orders shutdown of truck driver for DUI

A truck driver who has been convicted of DUI in several states including Connecticut has been issued a shutdown order by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association. The man was convicted in Connecticut twice in 2012, on Nov. 2 and again on Dec. 12, receiving a 15-month CDL suspension for the latter conviction.

Connecticut truck car accident blamed on fog

Police in Connecticut say that fog may have contributed to a car and truck accident in the early hours of March 17 that left a Torrington man critically injured. The accident occurred at the intersection of Winsted Road and Kennedy Drive in Torrington at approximately 3:43 a.m. Police did not say if weather was also the reason that a Life Star helicopter was unable to respond to the scene.
